Layton Road Closing for 3 Days

Layton’s Public Works Department is working in several areas of the city to improve the roads:

West Hill Field Railroad Crossing Project
Layton City Public works is coordinating with UTA and UPRR and have scheduled to fix the West Hill Field Railroad crossing from Sunday-Tuesday August 19-21. The crossing and road will be closed for 3 days. [Update: the flashing sign on West Hill Field now proclaims closure from 8pm on Saturday, August 18 through August 22nd; that starting date and time is correct but plans call for the road to be open by August 22nd. Layton Public Works Department plans to correct the information on the sign.] Below is a link to a traffic control plan that will be in place during the construction for the Public and for Truck traffic.

More than 20 small businesses are located west of the railroad crossing and are close enough to it to be affected by the closure. Many of the business owners said they would just work around the problem using the detour map the city provided. They were glad the repairs were being done and especially happy that the city chose to do the work on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to lessen the impact on customers driving to their businesses.

Cottonwood Drive Reconstruction Project
The Cottonwood Drive Reconstruction Project entails the installation of new storm drain pipe and placement of new subgrade, roadbase, and asphalt in Cottonwood Drive from Kays Creek Drive to 2800 East. Construction is anticipated to be completed approximately September 15, 2012. Access to all homes will be maintained throughout the course of the project.

Cherry Meadows Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project
Layton City has contracted with Larry Daley Construction to complete the Cherry Meadows Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project. This project includes the relocation of the sanitary sewer line to the future Cherry Meadows Lane right-of-way. The project is expected to the completed by September 28, 2012.
