KCKPD Collaborates with KU to Address Youth Violence


The KCKPD will be collaborating with the University of Kansas Center for Community Health and Development (KU CCHD) and other community partners in the implementation of a “Youth Violence Prevention Project”.

The grant was awarded to KU CCHD by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health. The focus of the grant is to foster collaborative efforts to address social determinants or factors of health such as education, employment, social connectedness and access to services/programing.

The geographic boundaries of the grant align with the current boundaries for the Northwest School/ Wyandotte High School area, which includes; 7th to 42nd Street, Quindaro to Armstrong, as well as the Fairfax Area.The grant is funded for four years.
