On Friday, June 19 at 9:30 A.M., the City of St. Petersburg and the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum will come together to celebrate Juneteenth, recognizing the date the last slaves were notified of their freedom.
Speakers will include Mayor Rick Kriseman, Congressman Charlie Crist, State Senator Darryl Rouson, Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch, and special guests. The Negro National Anthem will be sung by Deneen Wyman. As part of the program, the museum will ‘unveil’ a street mural declaring Black Lives Matter.
Given the need to limit crowd size due to COVID-19, this is a media only invite and not for public dissemination prior to the event. The event will also be streamed live on the City of St. Petersburg Facebook page here: Facebook.com/StPeteFL
