J.J. Killeen has been voted 2011 Player of the Year on the Nationwide Tour. His first victory of the 2011 season came at the Utah Championship held last July at Willow Creek Country Club.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — J.J. Killeen of Fort Worth, Texas, has been voted 2011 Player of the Year on the Nationwide Tour by his fellow competitors, it was announced today by the PGA TOUR.
The former Texas Christian University standout will receive the Jack Nicklaus Trophy, symbolic of his selection as Nationwide Tour Player of the Year.
“Congratulations to J.J. on his great play this year and being named 2011 Nationwide Tour Player of the Year,” said PGA TOUR commissioner Tim Finchem. “J.J. joins an impressive roster of former Nationwide Tour alumni who are winning and having a great deal of impact on the PGA TOUR. With two victories and the money title among his accomplishments this year, he is well positioned to succeed on TOUR in 2012.”
“I’m elated to have been named 2011 Nationwide Tour Player of the Year by my peers,” Killeen said. “This has been an incredible year for me, and fortunately my family has been on Tour many times and been able to enjoy much of my success first hand. I’m anxious to get out on the PGA TOUR. Seeing what guys like Keegan Bradley, Brendan Steele and the others who played the Nationwide Tour last year have done on TOUR this year gives me a great deal of confidence I will follow in their footsteps. I would like to thank my fellow players who voted for me and the many others who contributed to this very exciting and memorable year.”
Killeen’s year was highlighted by back-to-back wins at the Utah Championship presented by Utah Sports Commission (last week of July) and the Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha (first week of August). The San Diego native, who played the Nationwide Tour full time the last four seasons refining his game, won the money title with earnings of $414,273. That honor secured him a spot in the 2012 PLAYERS Championship.

• Topped the money list the last eight weeks and nine out of the last 10
• Made the cut in 21 of 25 starts
• Had six finishes of fifth or better
