Girls Basketball and Co-Ed Volleyball Dominate Local Private/Charter League
POCATELLO – Holy Spirit Catholic School wrapped up their girls’ basketball season securing the championship title for the area’s local private/charter sports league this past weekend. This comes on the heels of the school’s co-ed volleyball championship just six weeks prior.
The girls’ basketball team won the title by defeating Pocatello Community Charter School 25-12, capping their undefeated season and marking the second year in a row they have won the championship. The schools co-ed volleyball team also went undefeated this season and secured the league championship for the third year in a row.
“These two championships are prime examples of successful teamwork. When we lift each other up, we rise,” said coach Margie Gabiola, “My goal as a coach is not to just help players learn how to play the sport, but to learn how to build each other up and play together as a team.”
The private/charter league is comprised of nine east Idaho schools including: Holy Spirit Catholic School, Pocatello Community Charter School, Connor Academy, Gem Prep, Idaho Science Technology Charter School, Blackfoot Community Charter School, Alturas Academy, White Pine Charter School, and Taylor’s Crossing Charter School.
