Learn about the four species of sea turtles that visit our coastal long Island waters from Atlantic Marine Conservation Society scientists. You will also learn how they can become ‘cold stunned” and stranded on our beaches when the temperatures drop, and what you can do to help them. Participants will be encouraged to monitor their own local beaches and may sign up for monitoring the beach at Hallock State Park Preserve on specific days in the upcoming “cold stun” season. Participants ages 6 to 16 will receive a free Beach Stewardship Backpack provided by NY Connect Kids to Parks.
