Beginning Monday, April 9, 8th Street, between “Q” and “P” streets, will close to through traffic for utility work and street repair. Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained. The work is expected to be completed April 16 and is part of a series of improvement projects scheduled in the area through August.

Planned improvements include resurfacing portions of 8th, “P”, “Q”, “R” and “S” streets; installing ADA-accessible sidewalk ramps, curbs and sidewalks; and enhancing aesthetics on 24 street corners between 7th and 9th streets. The Lincoln Haymarket Development Corporation provided input on the plans and schedule, which was adjusted to accommodate special events.
