You????????ve been through basic concealed-carry training. You????????ve been told of the responsibilities of your decision to carry concealed. No doubt you????????ve been told that you should review scenarios you might encounter that may pass your way as a concealed-carry permit holder. The purpose of this article is to help you visualize a scenario that you may encounter and help you better prepare for the decision to draw your weapon and stop the threat or not.
The Scenario: In a Public Space: Robbery at a Store – A True Story
You are at your local pharmacy. As you subscription is being filled you????????ve walked over an isle or two from the pharmacy counter. You look up as you hear a shout, you see a bag flying through the air over the counter. You notice the shouter is pointing a gun at the pharmacist and demanding several medicines.
You????????ve find yourself at the end of an isle, you look around the end of the isle and have a direct line at the back of the robber with his arm extended as he points his gun at the pharmacist. He is about 25 feet away. He????????s shouting at the pharmacist. What do you do? 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Did you observe the area at the front of the store as you walked away from the front desk? Did you noticed how many people there are in the store/area as you walked around the store?
1. What are you going to do?
2. Do you have your concealed carry gun on your person?
3. Is it in your vehicle?
Ending 1: You draw your gun and shoot the robber in the back of the head and he falls dead.
Ending 2: You are afraid to pull out your weapon. The pharmacist hand the bag with drugs in it over the counter. The robber shoots the pharmacist and the woman helping him behind the counter then runs out of the store. You know it????????s your fault that they both got shot.
Ending 3: Your weapon is in your vehicle. The pharmacist hand the bag with drugs in it over the counter. The robber shoots the pharmacist and the woman helping him behind the counter then runs out of the store. You know you could have made a difference if you were carrying. You vow that from this time forward you will carry your weapon from this time forward to help save someone from a bad guy.
