The Greene County Highway Department is seeking qualified temporary workers to maintain county road services from April through October.
The number of applicants with a commercial driver license (CDL) have been steadily decreasing each year. If positions are not filled to capacity, county residents could see a noticeable decrease in mowing in the right of ways, and a delayed response time with other routine and requested maintenance items.
The Highway Department will host open interviews from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Thursday, March 16, to fill more than 20 Temporary Seasonal Maintenance Crew Worker positions.
No appointment is necessary; interviews will be held at the Highway Department facility at 2065 North Clifton Avenue in Springfield.
Temporary Seasonal Maintenance Crew Workers are paid at a rate of $9.01 per hour without CDL, and $11.18 per hour with a CDL. Typical hours areMonday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from April through October.
Duties may include hand patching, shoulder stabilization, paving, sign maintenance, striping, vegetation control, pipe and guardrail installation, bridge and box culvert maintenance, snow removal, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalency is required.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
- A valid Missouri class B CDL with airbrake endorsement is preferred.
