Greene Co. Highway Department to host hiring event for temporary crew

Greene County MissouriThe Greene County Highway Department is seeking qualified temporary workers to maintain county road services from April through October.

The number of applicants with a commercial driver license (CDL) have been steadily decreasing each year. If positions are not filled to capacity, county residents could see a noticeable decrease in mowing in the right of ways, and a delayed response time with other routine and requested maintenance items.

The Highway Department will host open interviews from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Thursday, March 16, to fill more than 20 Temporary Seasonal Maintenance Crew Worker positions.

No appointment is necessary; interviews will be held at the Highway Department facility at 2065 North Clifton Avenue in Springfield.

Job Description

Temporary Seasonal Maintenance Crew Workers are paid at a rate of $9.01 per hour without CDL, and $11.18 per hour with a CDL. Typical hours areMonday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from April through October.

Duties may include hand patching, shoulder stabilization, paving, sign maintenance, striping, vegetation control, pipe and guardrail installation, bridge and box culvert maintenance, snow removal, etc.

Other qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency is required.
  • Applicant must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A valid Missouri class B CDL with airbrake endorsement is preferred.
