As a grandfather I am often distressed to see the signs of cultural erosion that we are surrounded by today. I search for tools to help me have a good influence on my grandchildren, tools that can help me to counter some of the negative influences they are exposed to in today's more degenerate society. One thing that helps is good movies. There are a growing number of great movies being produced that have uplifting and enobling messages. Our children and grandchildren need to be exposed to these movies and others like them that serve to create a vision of the good people can do.
Here is a brief list of some of the movies I include as worthy to share with children and grandchildren:
Cinderella Man (2005) http://www.amazon.com/Cinderella-Man-Widescreen-Russell-Crowe/dp/B000ARTN3I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432916777&sr=8-1&keywords=cinderella+man+dvd

Of course there are many Disney movies with good messages, and many other movies that I haven't listed here. These are just a few of the movies that stand out in my mind as great movies that encourage achievement, teamwork, and good works. These movies also display people of good character working together to make great things hapen.
Beyond movies, we have books, articles, short videos, and other tools within our reach that we can use to shape young minds and budding character. The rising generation is the one we will rely on in our old age. It is the generation that will determine the near future. It is the older generation's responsibility to ensure that these young people are exposed to excellent material that enobles rather than debases.
A friend of mine, Paul Parkinson, recently published a new book, "Unselfish: love they neighbor as they selfie" (http://www.amazon.com/Unselfish-Love-Thy-Neighbor-Selfie/dp/057815708X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432916580&sr=8-1&keywords=unselfish+love+thy+neighbor+as+thy+selfie). This book tells the stories of 99 selfless people who have served others in a variety of ways. Each story is an inspiration to do good. This little book enables a parent or grandparent to always have an uplifting story at the ready to share with children. I've been sharing these stories with my grandson at breakfast. They touch his heart. He always wants to hear two or three of them.
Now is a good time to think through the library of movies and books in your home and ask yourself whether you have the tools that will enable you to influence the minds and character of your children and/or grandchildren for the better. Now is the time to commit to be a powerful influence for good in their lives. You can have a significant influence for good on the rising generation. Help them to gain a vision of what good is possible in their lives. If you don't teach them, someone else will; and it may not be what you want them to learn.
