GLENDALE, Ariz. – Is your kid interested in playing basketball this spring? Sign up now for Glendale’s spring youth league, offered for boys and girls ages 5-10. Don’t miss the deadline of Jan. 25, so he or she can be passing the rock and taking it to the hole in no time!

Glendale Parks & Recreation’s league emphasizes physical fitness, equal participation and social and skill development. Games will begin March 2 and held on Saturdays, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., at Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center, 5600 W. Union Hills Dr. Players must sign up for the division of play in which they are eligible, determined by their age as of March 2, 2019. The division ages and registration codes are as follows:

Pee Wee (coed) Mini Mites (boys)* Rookies (girls)*

5-7 year old 8-10 year old 8-10 year old

**Mini Mites and Rookie division may be combined if there are not enough participants in each individual division.

You can get in the game too! Volunteers age 18 and older are needed to coach teams. Practices can begin the week of Feb. 11, if enough parents and volunteers sign up to coach. The practice location, day(s) and time(s) are determined by the volunteer coach and can be held any day, Monday through Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., no more than twice a week.

Registration fee for each child is $55 (resident) or $75 (non-resident), which includes a team shirt and up to eight regular-season games. Don’t forget: the deadline to register is Jan. 25.
