Registration now open for 5K on the Runway at Love Field Airport
Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) has opened registration for the 2nd Annual 5K on the Runway. The race, a USATF-certified 5K course, will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 and will begin at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. The 100-year-old airport hopes to exceed the 1600 runners from the inaugural 5K in 2017.
“We are excited to have the 5K on the Runway back for a second year,” said Mark Duebner, Director of Aviation at Dallas Love Field Airport. “This race is a unique opportunity for our community to experience the airport from a new vantage point, an actual runway. Whether participants take a leisurely stroll down the strip or ramp up for a competitive race, all are welcome.”
DAL’s runway 13L-31R, parallel to Lemmon Avenue, will be cleared for runners and walkers alike, giving them an exclusive opportunity to race along what is considered the flattest course in the city. The 3.2-mile path will lead participants around DAL’s airstrip and grounds. All participants will receive the official Run the Runway t-shirt, custom finisher medal, custom bib and chip timing. Trophies will be awarded to participants with the fastest times in various age groups.
Registration is limited, so those interested in participating are urged to register soon at www.lovefield5k.com.
