Genealogy Classes being offerred at MCC

(Lake Havasu City, Arizona) Mohave Community College Community Outreach Department is excited to announce the introduction of Genealogy Classes for the Fall 2011 Schedule. Four classes for the beginner and novice researcher will begin in October.

Beginning Genealogy is an eight hour class to learn how to find your ancestors, will include topics of where to begin, how to use forms and sourcing your citations. Students will learn what records are available and where to find them online. Researchers will learn how to verify their information, review resources and share their findings.

Using Census Records is a four hour class and will cover all the United States Census records from 1930 back to 1790. Students will learn what information can be found in this valuable source and where to locate them online.

Finding your Roots Online is a four hour class and will teach researches how to find ancestral records online and become familiar with the most popular genealogy websites and search engines.

Family Tree Software is an eight hour class that will help researchers to select the ideal family tree software program for them. Students will also learn how to create trees on-line, to allow access to basic information about their ancestors from anywhere.
