Free Pre-Show Lecture at the Mariachi Divas Performance

On May 11, 2015 at 7:30 PM the Mariachi Divas will bring their Los Angeles infused brand of Mariachi to the Ellen Eccles Theatre.  Before the show at 6:45 PM there will be an opportunity to learn about the history of Mariachi music.  Utah State University professors Dr. Sergio Bernal and Dr. Maria Spicer-Escalante will give a pre-show lecture in the Ellen Eccles Theatre lobby about the heritage of Mariachi music.  The lecture is free to the community and no ticket is needed to attend. 
For concert patrons the pre-show presentation will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about the history of Mariachi before the energetic performance by the two-time Grammy Award winning Mariachi Divas.  Cache Valley has grown into a successful community because a harmony of cultures that have come together to live and work here. Therefor Mariachi is simply one of the many threads in a tapestry of cultural heritage that represents Cache Valley’s modern community.  The Cache Valley Center for the Arts offers an invitation to come and enjoy the lecture and stay for an amazing show.
