Five homes impacted by fire, cause under investigation

Castle Rock Fire and Rescue has extinguished fires at five homes in Castle Rock’s Meadows neighborhood today.

Around 10 a.m. CRFD received a call of one home fire in the 4800 block of Foxtail Drive. High winds carried that fire to an additional four homes. In all, two homes are a total loss, and the other three sustained minor damage. Some residents in the neighborhood were evacuated to an area park.

At this time, CRFD isn’t aware of any injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

High winds were a significant factor for the fire department today. At the same time as these home fires, firefighters were responding to a three-alarm wildland fire 10 miles south of Town, near Tomah Road. That fire has also been contained. Additionally, fire crews were responding to a gas leak at a Kaiser facility on the east side of Town.

Castle Rock continues to be under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. Visit CRgov.com/FireBans for details.
