Plano firefighters pulled two people from a car that was driven into a pond in
central Plano today.
Crews were called to the 3700 block of Country Place Drive at 9:41 am after a
four-door sedan left the roadway and drove into a pond approximately 30 feet from
the road. Callers told the 911 operators that there were two people in the car and that
the vehicle was nose-down in the water and sinking. Plano’s Truck 4 arrived at the
scene in three minutes and firefighters entered the water and extricated the
occupants from the car quickly.
The two occupants of the car were transported to Medical City Plano. Their
injuries were not life threatening.
Plano’s Truck 4 is part of the department’s Special Rescue Team and the
personnel are trained in water rescue but, fortunately, they were also the closest fire
truck to the scene. The pond sits between the two walking trails that make up a part
of Plano’s Chisholm Trail, a popular walking and biking trail in the middle of the city.
No other people were injured and it is unknown at this time why the vehicle left the
road and entered the pond.
