SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — An art exhibit by three members of the Evangel University faculty will open with a public reception Friday, Oct. 5, from 6:30-8 p.m. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
The Art Gallery is located on the main floor of the Barnett Fine Arts Center, facing Glenstone Ave., just south of the Spence Chapel.
“The opening on Oct. 5 is an opportunity for the public to join our students, faculty, staff and meet the Evangel art faculty,” said Stan Maples, professor of art. “Everyone is invited to look at the work, ask questions and visit our facilities.”
The faculty art exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and this show will continue until Oct. 29.
Mike Buesking, associate professor of art, is showing a variety of paintings, including The Call of Jeremiah, a 26" x 48" oil on board painting.
“Several of my recent paintings probe aspects of people encountering the touch of God,” said Buesking. “In Jeremiah Chapter 1, God calls Jeremiah — part of that interaction includes God reaching out his hand and touching Jeremiah’s mouth, and He says, ‘Now I have put my words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you…’”
Stan Maples, professor of art, is showing digital images and digital paints, and Lane Simmons, photography instructor, is showing his works as well.
