BROADCAST ARTS & MEDIA
Creative Expression through the Digital Arts
LOGAN, UT ??????? Across the United States young people are using media production to speak out about their lives and communities. The Cache Valley Center for the Arts is launching a new arts program to help encourage new voices! Starting in January 2012 CVCA will offer Broadcast Arts & Media (BAM!) classes for youth and adults. Classes will begin on Monday, January 9, 2011 and run for 8 or 12 weeks depending on the class.
??????CVCA is thrilled to participate in this social digital movement,?????? said Marianne Sidwell, arts education coordinator for the Cache Valley Center for the Arts. ??????We are glad to offer youth and adults the opportunity to express themselves through the digital arts.??????
CVCA is a non-profit arts organization in Logan, Utah that is extending its programming to include media arts classes dedicated to teaching documentary video & audio production to youth and educators as a means to develop the artistic, critical literacy, and career skills of young people. This social form of expression has become a vital part of our day-to-day lives but the opportunity to learn these skills are limited. CVCA and its Board of Directors saw a need for these skills in Cache Valley and decided to move forward with the BAM! Studio concept. These classes will help create a positive platform for expression and creative growth of the individual. The upcoming class session will include Photoshop CS5 for Photographers, Filmmaking 1, BAM! Youth Radio, Digital Audio, Finale Music Notation & Recording Workshops. The goal of these courses is to give all participants a creative voice through digital expression. Whether it????????s through film, radio, music, photography, or audio engineering, it????????s all about letting people find their voice.
In partnership with Utah Public Radio, the new BAM! Studios are located in UPR????????s Downtown Studio found in the Bullen Center at 43 South Main Street in Logan. The studio provides an atmosphere with professional equipment and a live broadcast studio. The classes are taught by industry professionals that not only work in the field they teach but who also care about the students???????? vision and how they want to voice it. In class, you will be surrounded by other students who love the same things and looking for the same opportunities to share their ideas, engage their minds, and imagine all the possibilities. The creative process and hands on learning will create lifelong mentors and friendships.
