NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD arrested a man in the Eighth District after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of a weapon and drugs.
On Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the officers conducted a traffic stop on a gray Chevrolet Monte Carlo for non-functioning brake lights in the 700 block of Poydras Street. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers detected the strong odor of marijuana.
The driver, Brandon Bazile (B/M/ DOB: 5-16-1988) was discovered to be driving with a suspended license in addition to having two outstanding warrants.
After being advised of his rights and placed under arrest, Bazile admitted to having a loaded pistol in his vehicle and two ounces of marijuana in the trunk.
After securing and executing a search warrant on the vehicle, officers discovered and confiscated a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol with two magazines, three ounces of packaged marijuana, Rice Krispie treats and Cheetos snacks laced with marijuana, $582 in cash, and other narcotics contraband.
In addition to the traffic violations, Bazile was charged possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
