Drury’s C-Street Gallery to hold first fashion show on Saturday, Feb. 17

SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Feb. 13, 2018 — The Drury on C-Street Gallery will host a fashion show this Saturday afternoon in conjunction with an art exhibit currently on display this month.

The fashion show takes place from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, and features clothing lines from four local stores: The C-Street Boutique, Red Roots Boutique, Two Saved Sisters, and Blackwell’s Fine Men’s Clothiers. The show will be the first of its kind hosted at the gallery, and is a counterpart to the “Do You See Who I See” exhibition now on display through Feb. 25. The exhibit explores the realm of identity and the many shapes it takes, and features a plethora of local artists.

Drury arts administration students program the C-Street Gallery throughout the year, including all planning, curation, setup and marketing. Drury’s arts administration degree is one of only a handful of undergraduate programs in the country, and helps students bridge the worlds of business and the arts by exposing them to business subjects such as accounting and nonprofit organizations as well as aspects of fundraising, stakeholder development, and cultural policies.

“We wanted to keep the events fun and interesting, so we went with topics and events that hadn’t yet been explored,” says student Crystal Peyrefitte, one of the organizers of Saturday’s show. “The fashion show is something fun that we’ve paired with a more serious exhibit about self-identity. Since vanity plays a role at times in identity, we felt the two shows would work well together.”
