SPRINGFIELD, Mo., Aug. 15, 2018 — Drury University is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Huinda, CPA, to the position of Executive Vice President of Administration and Chief Financial Officer, effective August 20. He will report directly to President Tim Cloyd and will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership in support of the university’s mission.
Huinda comes to Drury with an extensive background in higher education and nonprofit finance. He has served as controller for Evangel University since 2013, where he oversaw the university’s financial and internal control systems, business practices, interfaces, and related policies and procedures, working with the senior leadership team to elevate the school’s financial performance. Prior to this, he built the accounting department of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary from the ground up and consolidated the business systems of three institutions for a university merger. He has also held accounting and business administration roles at various nonprofits, including a large school district in Texas and public utilities for the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands.
During his career, Huinda has implemented changes that maximize technology to improve operating efficiency, while ensuring that financial decisions remain both sound and student-centric. Huinda cites values-based leadership, collaboration, vision-casting, and the responsible stewardship of resources as career passions.
“Given my passion for excellence in higher education, I look forward to the tremendous opportunity to serve the Drury community in this capacity,” Huinda says. “This key role requires strategic inflection as accelerated advancements in technology, societal changes, and economic pressures demand agile responses and lean business processes that remain fluid to ensure we meet the needs of today’s students and prepare them for the future.”
“I am very pleased to add Jeff to our senior leadership team at Drury,” Cloyd says. “His background provides him a keen understanding of the current higher education landscape. I’m excited about his track record of process improvement, implementing useful new technology, and mentoring his team members.”
Huinda’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Central Philippine University and a Master of Business Administration from Missouri State University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant. He has also been an adjunct faculty member while at Evangel. Huinda and his wife, Erica, live in Springfield with their three teenage sons, Benjamin, Mark, and Daniel.
Huinda comes to Drury as the university continues to strengthen its financial position following two years of rising enrollment and fundraising. Traditional undergraduate enrollment increased 8 percent from 2016 to 2018, and this year Drury more than doubled its annual fundraising as total gifts and commitments increased by 121 percent.
