Downtown Reclaimed Water Main Construction: Traffic Update 8/05/2016

Austin Water Department advises to reduce water use.Construction of the transmission main will bring reclaimed water to downtown Austin. Reclaimed water conserves the drinking water supply and can be used for a variety of non-potable uses such as irrigation and cooling towers.

  • Lane closures on West 11th Street between Congress Avenue and Lavaca Street.
  • Westbound East 12th Street closed between Trinity and Red River streets.
  • Trinity Street is reduced to one lane northbound between Martin Luther King Boulevard and 18th Street.
  • Butler Park–pipe staged in the park to prepare for drilling.
  • Westbound West 4th Street is closed between San Antonio and Guadalupe streets for about two weeks (closed 24/7).
  • San Antonio Street between 5th and 6th streets closed for pavement repairs.
  • Westbound West 10th Street will be closed between West Avenue and Rio Grande Street for about two weeks (closed weekdays 9 a.m.-4 p.m.).

Motorists and cyclists should use caution in these areas and obey all traffic control signs.
