Do you like cats? Are you a baseball fan? What do cats and baseball have to do with Social Security?
Social Security information is available on several social media platforms as well as on the agency website at www.socialsecurity.gov.
Four recent uploads to the Social Security You Tube channel feature cats promoting online retirement applications. Not a cat lover? Watch one of the baseball stadium videos instead.
Are you interested in filing for Social Security retirement benefits? Go to the Benefits tab at www.socialsecurity.gov to learn about retirement benefits, estimate your own amount, consider your options and then file online when it????????s convenient for you. Some application questions have drop down boxes to provide more information.
To file online for Social Security retirement or spouse????????s benefits, you must be at least 61 years and 9 months old and want to start your benefits in the next four months. When completed your application is reviewed by SSA representatives, usually but not always from your local office. If needed, an SSA representative will contact you.
You can always be first in line by using our online services in the convenience of your own home. You can also file in the office or by phone. You can make an appointment by calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
Either way, you can still watch the cat and baseball videos.
