Dining Compliance during Restore Illinois Phase 3

June 11, 2010 (Peoria, IL) Peoria City/County Health Department licenses 1135 food establishments in Peoria County. Of those establishments, 99.8% are following the rules and taking precautions to keep their workforce and their customers safe as Peoria County operates under the State of Illinois Executive Order and the Phase 3 protocols for Restore Illinois.

“These establishments are champions and advocates in supporting the health and safety of the community. We further applaud those businesses that voluntarily comply with the COVID-19 protocols set forth by Public Health professionals and that self-certify at the www.RestoreHOI.com,” states Monica Hendrickson, Administrator, Peoria City/County Health Department.

With the Public Health at risk of COVID-19 community spread, the food service industry through licensed food establishments and bars is limited in Phase 3 Restore Illinois to drive-through, delivery, take-out, curb-side pick-up, and outdoor dining while following guidance protocols. Dine- in consumption of food and beverages at food establishments and bars is not allowed.

“The next 15 days is key for moving into the next phase which will continue to reopen various industries, including food establishments. We do not want to see an uptick in cases, or jeopardize our ability to move into Phase 4,” says Andrew Rand, Chairman of the Peoria County Board. “We continue to stress the need to practice social distancing, use of face coverings, and frequent hand- washing.”

Mayor Jim Ardis stated, “We have always encouraged businesses that require a state license to comply with the Governor’s Executive Orders and not potentially jeopardize their state licenses. We understand the sense of urgency for businesses to re-open.”

In support of the Governor’s Executive Order during COVID-19 to protect the health of the public and uphold the law, Peoria City/County Health Department will follow and pursue local ordinance enactments for non-compliant food establishments. These actions include revocation of food safety licenses, as well as the issuance of fines and penalties.
