Yesterday, an icon passed from this world into the next. After a long battle with pancreatic cancer, Steve Jobs, founder and past CEO of Apple Computer died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. He was just 56 years old.
Even for those of us that don???¦??t use an Apple product often, he changed the way the world looked at new products and raised the bar for any other manufacturer of electronic products. There were entire industries that were spawned to provide services and add-ons for Mr. Jobs???¦?? inventions.
He was an innovator, a visionary and not least, a family man.
His life raises two thoughts for me:
- How much can we accomplish in a short amount of time? He was just 56, but yet he created incredible changes in products that the world uses;
- And, closer to home, if we strive for perfection in our lives and become innovative in our lives, how quickly would the world change ???¦?? for the better?
Perhaps, one of the quotes attributed to Steve Jobs would (or, should) be the mantra for each of us, young or old:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.”
