Wild Wednesdays: Animal Autographs
Wednesday, December 2, 3:45 pm
Free for Ogden Nature Center members
$3 children / $4 seniors / $5 adults
All ages welcome
Become a nature detective as you hunt down animal clues around the Ogden Nature Center – from tracks and scat to feathers and fur.  Dress for the weather.  We’ll hike the trails in search of animal signs. Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Holiday Open House at the Ogden Nature Center
Saturday, December 5 from 9 am – 4 pm
FREE admission all day
Enjoy holiday shopping, a local arts and crafts fair, free gift wrapping, fancy bake sale, and a kids craft.  Fresh and fragrant evergreen swags and centerpieces will be for sale. The Nest Gift Shop at the Ogden Nature Center features nature related books, stationary, toys, games, art, birdfeeders and birdhouses, baskets, jewelry and casual clothing.  Come enjoy cozy holiday shopping and walk the brisk, wintery trails!
 
Wild Wednesdays: Nature’s Hoarders

Scavenge, save, store! Unlike humans, animals can’t run to the supermarket to fulfill their basic needs. Take part in a journey around the Ogden Nature Center to unearth the ways animals adapt to ensure survival through winter. Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Holiday Hand Cream Workshop
Saturday, December 12 from 10:30 am to 12 noon
Cost: $12 for Ogden Nature Center members / $15 for non-members
Ages: 10+ (under 16 must have a participating parent attend)
Prepare for the dry winter air and learn to appreciate useful plants by mixing your very own hand cream, which also makes a nice holiday gift! Join an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist for a brief hike to identify and talk about some of the ways plants have helped people to survive in harsh climates. Then mix plant ingredients to make an all-natural hand cream. Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Please call 801-621-7595 before Wednesday, December 9 to reserve your spot.
 
Preschool Discovery Days: Plants and Animals Prepare for Winter

$5 members 
$6 for non-members
Prices include one adult. Ask about group rates.
Ages 3-5 
Discover the many ways animals and plants prepare for the cold winter months. Play games, visit the bear den, read stories and create a cute craft as we learn about migration, hibernation and more.  Preschool teachers/aides are free with participating class. General admission fees apply to any additional family members in attendance.  Walk-ins will only be accepted if space is available. Classes may be canceled due to low attendance.  RSVP to 801-621-7595.

How many words can you use to describe snow?  Come find out as we celebrate the first official day of winter. Discover how animals use snow to travel, build homes, and even hide from predators. Don’t forget your hats, gloves, and snow boots!  Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Scout Saturdays 
Saturday, December 19
9 am – Native vs. Invasive
10 am – Conservation
11 am – Venomous Reptiles
$5 per scout / per class
The Ogden Nature Center provides the perfect outdoor classroom for scout activities. Have a teacher/naturalist help your scout pass off badge requirements during these 45 minute classes on Scout Saturdays. Reservation and a non-refundable deposit required. What do animals do when the days get shorter, the weather gets colder, and the snow begins to fly? A few very special animals snuggle in for the winter and snooze for days, weeks, and even months at a time. Come learn about these amazing animals with one of the Ogden Nature Center’s teacher/naturalist. Please meet in the Visitor Center.
 
Holiday Hours:
The Ogden Nature Center will be closed Friday, December 25 through Sunday, January 3rd.  The Nature Center will re-open on Monday, January 4th. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
