Dallas Animal Services’ long-time mascot to be adopted

Dallas, Texas – Rudy, the lovable 7-foot-tall tan and brown dog that has represented Dallas Animal Services (DAS) for the last seven years is officially retiring from public service.

On Monday, July 22, 2019 he will be “adopted” by DAS’ partner VCA Animal Hospitals (VCA), the adoption will take place at DAS’ Main Shelter at 1818 N. Westmoreland Rd. at 11:30 a.m.

Rudy’s new life will include visits to area VCA locations where he will greet pet owners and promote the partnership between DAS and VCA, which includes free veterinary exams for recently adopted DAS pets.

Just like any DAS pet, Rudy has been examined by DAS’ veterinary team, microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. While he waits for his forever home, he is enjoying DAS’ play groups and taking walks with our volunteer team.

Rudy will be passing the torch to two new DAS mascots, who will be introduced during Rudy’s adoption ceremony. Following the ceremony, Dallas-residents will be asked to weigh in on the names of the Dallas90 duo.

DAS will make video and photos of Rudy’s adoption preparations available to media upon request.
