Culvert Project Closes Village Drive Starting Sept. 17

Ski Time Square Roundabout Shifts to Phase II Closures & Traffic Plan
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 13, 2018-The City of Steamboat Springs has contracted
Native Excavating to replace a culvert under Village Driver near the Wild Plum/Highmark and Village Center
area starting next week. The project will begin Monday, September 17 and will require Village Drive to be
closed until November 1, with the full project wrapped up by November 21.

Native Excavating will be replacing the existing failing culvert with a 10’ x 5’ box culvert, similar to the one
completed in 2016 under Après Ski Way near the Iron Waffle & Coffee Company and Steamboat BräuHaus.
Closing the entire work area as opposed to alternating one-lane traffic, allows crews to complete their efforts in
a significantly shorter time frame and much safer manner.
Steamboat Springs Transit (SST) will reroute the Condo/Night (Green Line) bus traveling through the Mt.
Werner Circle/Après Ski Way roundabout, then up Après Ski Way, turn right onto Medicine Springs Road and
back onto Village Drive. SST passengers accessing the Highmark bus stop will need to use another stop as
service into this location will not occur during the duration of the closure.

All adjacent businesses and lodging properties will remain accessible throughout construction. The Wild Plum,
Iron Waffle and BräuHaus parking lots are accessible by vehicle using Après Ski Way. The road closure on
Village Drive will result in motorists detoured along Medicine Springs Drive.
In addition to the Village Drive culvert project, the new Ski Time Square Roundabout will be shifting its closures
as Phase I transitions into Phase II, which runs from September 17 to November 1. The north side of the work
zone will close Mt. Werner Circle between the Steamboat Grand porte-cochere and the Ski Time Square
parking garage. All traffic wishing to access Ski Time Square Drive, including the Torian Plum and Sheraton
properties, will be required to use the south access route on Mt. Werner Circle. Traffic headed to the
Steamboat Grand and Burgess Creek Road will continue to use the north portion of Mt. Werner Circle as
