Councilman Daniel Valenzuela Amends Resignation Date to Ensure Full Council Participation in the Selection of the District 5 Vacancy

“This morning I sent a letter to the City Clerk changing the day I will resign from the Phoenix City Council from the close of business on Monday, July 16th to close of business July 18th as required by the Arizona Resign to Run Law.

It came to my attention multiple members of the city council will not be present to be part of the appointment process to fill the District 5 vacancy in the timeframe allowed. After consulting with Mayor Thelda Williams I decided to change my resignation date to July 18th.

This important decision impacts the residents of District 5 and the city at large. I changed my resignation date to help with a smooth transition and allow for the full participation by my colleagues. That ultimately benefits the people of Phoenix.”
