The online forum at SpeakUpAustin.org/DemolitionPermits will remain open through Sunday, April 1, 2018, and an additional public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28, 2018, to discuss public safety, licensing requirements, and notification procedures.

In August 2017, the Office of the City Auditor released a report on Demolition Permits that highlighted areas of concern for the current demolition permit process. City Council followed up in December 2017 with Resolution No. 20171214-066 requesting Development Services Department staff to seek public input and propose a revised process to ensure that appropriate reviews and safety measures take place before demolition activities, and adequate notification is given to interested parties.
