Colorado Springs’ 2018 Young Champion Ambassador to be selected Thursday

Champion will represent Colorado Springs, Olympic City USA in Ancient Olympia, Greece

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mayor John Suthers will announce the Young Champion Ambassador (YCA) at the final selection event Thursday (Oct. 25), from 4-5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers at Colorado Springs City Hall (107 N. Nevada Ave.). The event will air live on SpringsTV (Comcast Channel 18 and 880 HD and Century Link Channel 18) and will be streamed online at bit.ly/springstv.

Ten YCA finalists will each deliver presentations to a panel of community judges. The winner will be selected based on a combination of their portfolio (accomplishments and performance throughout the six-month YCA program) and final presentation.


4 p.m. Event begins, 2-3 minute presentations by YCA finalists

4:45 p.m. Break for judges’ deliberation

5 p.m. Mayor Suthers announces Champion

The YCA champion will travel to Ancient Olympia, Greece, a Colorado Springs’ sister city, in March 2019 for a historical tour of the ancient Olympic grounds. For more information about the YCA program, visit ycacos.com
