Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society Fall 2012 Seminar

Genealogical societies around the country celebrate October as ??Ÿ?¦?Family History Month.??Ÿ?¦? During October, a number of events celebrating family history or genealogy are scheduled across the nation. In Las Vegas, the Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society (CCNGS) has scheduled its Fall 2012 Seminar on Saturday, October 20, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. The seminar will be held at the Stan Fulton Building on the UNLV Campus, 801 E. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas. CCNGS normally hosts two seminars each year, in the Spring and the Fall. It also offers a variety of training programs throughout the year, and staffs the Heritage Room at the Paseo Verde Library in Henderson. All of its events are open to the public, and, excepting the seminars, all are free. Nest week’s seminar will feature three nationally recognized speakers: Joel WEINTRAUB has done genealogy and census research for over a decade. He has produced census search tools since 2001, and in 2002 joined forces with Stephen Morse. As a result, address/location tools for federal and New York State censuses are freely available on the Morse One Step Website. Mr. Weintraub will speak on ??Ÿ?¦?Searching the U.S. Census by Locational Means??Ÿ?¦? and ??Ÿ?¦?Unique Aspects of the U.S. Census.??Ÿ?¦? Margo McKINSTRY, Born in Canada, Margo??Ÿ?¦Ÿ??s love of the British Isles comes from her ancestry and living in England as a child. A Research Consultant with British Reference in FamilySearch, she received her accreditation for England in March 2008. She is a qualified instructor at the Family History Library, presenting at numerous conferences and has also authored several genealogical publications. Margo??Ÿ?¦Ÿ??s passion is teaching others genealogical research in the British Isles. Ms. McKinstry will speak on ??Ÿ?¦?Finding Your English/Welsh Ancestors??Ÿ?¦? and ??Ÿ?¦?Finding Your Irish Ancestors in the 19th and 20th Centuries.??Ÿ?¦? Ron TANNER is a product manager for the Family History Department. His primary responsibility is to lead a team doing research and design of new.familysearch.org and companion products. Ron has a master??Ÿ?¦Ÿ??s degree in Computer Science from BYU and has previously worked as a product manager and engineer at Novell, Citrix, and Bell Laboratories. Mr. Tanner will speak on ??Ÿ?¦?Introducing Family Search Family Tree ??Ÿ?¦Ÿ??
