City to Enhance Public Safety with 60 New Pedestrian Lights on Jefferson Davis Parkway

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works streetlight contractor, AllStar Electric, LLC, began trenching in the Jefferson Davis Parkway neutral ground to prepare for the installation of 60 new pedestrian lights, which will enhance public safety by illuminating the bike and pedestrian path between Orleans Avenue and the foot of Jefferson Davis Parkway bridge over I-10.

Safety is the City’s top priority. Residents, cyclists and commuters should plan to travel at reduced speeds while construction crews are on site.

The new streetlight poles are scheduled to be installed in early December; crews will be working from Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The installation will be completed by mid-December, weather permitting.
