(Miami, FL, July 9, 2018) – The City of Miami on Monday released the Fiscal Year 2018-19 proposed budget. The $1.086 billion Proposed Operating Budget is balanced and includes a $14 million reserve for labor negotiations and $5 million for beautification projects without increasing the overall property tax rate.
"It is clear that we are heading in a new direction," said Mayor Francis Suarez. "I have tasked the City Manager to reach reasonable settlements with our labor unions, and I have asked the administration to improve the quality of life of our residents through citywide beautification projects."
The budget also sets objectives for the upcoming fiscal year.
"We are presenting a strategic plan to better serve our residents," said City Manager Emilio Gonzalez. "The proposed budget aligns the work we do with our shared priorities."
The FY 2018-19 proposed budget will go before the City of Miami Commission in September.
