(Miami, FL March 13, 2017) – City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and Commissioner Wifredo “Willy” Gort, District 1, will join Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson and the principals of developer Housing Trust Group, LLC, on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, 1 a.m., to celebrate the completion and grand opening of Wagner Creek, a 73-unit affordable rental development in the Health District located at 1501 N.W. 13 Ct. Miami’s Health District is the second largest in the country, a vibrant neighborhood comprised of a concentration of hospitals, medical centers, research institutions and testing laboratories.
The $23.4 million Wagner Creek is located within easy distance of the University of Miami and Veterans Administration Hospitals, and the Civic Center Metrorail Station in Miami Miami’s Health District, also known as the Civic Center. It features one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, with fifty-seven units for low-income households at or below 60% of the area median income, eleven units for households defined as extremely low income (33% of the area median income), and the remaining five units for workforce. The development also features a three-story parking structure and amenities including a multi-purpose community room, fitness center, and furnished terrace.
The City of Miami is providing $840,100 in HOME Investment Partnerships (federal) funding via the City’s Department of Community and Economic Development while other funding sources include $17.4 million in low-income housing tax credits, a $3.4 million construction loan, and $1.8 million from Miami-Dade County’s Surtax program. Wagner Creek is fully leased.
