The City Is A Finalist In Two Categories

The city of Las Vegas was selected as a finalist and potential prize winner of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) 2018 City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge. The challenge recognizes how local and regional governments and school districts around the world are combining cutting-edge technologies with innovative ideas to benefit their communities.

The city is a finalist in two award categories:

– In the Best Practices category, the city is being recognized for creating several skills that keep residents and visitors informed about city news and events and answers common questions leveraging the convenience of the Alexa voice-activated personal digital assistant.

– In the Dream Big category, the city is being acclaimed for establishing the GOVegas ecosystem that combines multiple platforms, ranging from digital media streaming via Apple TV and Roku to mobile apps and websites, and Alexa to enable citizens to engage with the city around-the-clock on any platform they prefer.

Winners will be announced at the AWS Public Sector Summit in Washington, D.C., June 20 and will be awarded $50,000 worth of service credits to help carry out their mission of serving the public using AWS technologies and expertise.
