City of Austin to Host Fourth Annual Youth Career Fest


Tuesday, January 31, 2017  from 9:00  a.m. to Noon, Palmer Events Center, 909 Barton Springs Rd.

The City of Austin’s Youth Council will host the fourth annual Youth Career Fest on Jan. 31, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Palmer Events Center. The event provides a forum for Austin area business and organization representatives to talk with students about career opportunities and internships.
The student-focused event is free and open to all area high school students, as well as others in the community. Event kick-off will begin with an opening ceremony at 8:30 a.m. to welcome employers.

Employers represented at this year’s event include LENOIR, Austin Public Library, Cancer Rehab Austin, Round Rock Express, Formula 1 Racing, WordPress Engine, Austin Municipal Court, Austin-Travis County EMS, The Iron Yard, Mexic-Arte Museum, Austin Opera, NASA’s Texas Space Grant Consortium, and the University of Texas College of Natural Sciences, and many more.

The Youth Career Fest began in 2013 in response to a desire by the Austin Youth Council to address teen unemployment. Now in its fourth year, the Youth Career Fest has hosted more than 1,000 students and 100+ vendors each year.
