(Miami, FL May 15, 2018) – City Manager Emilio Gonzalez has appointed Chief Innovation Officer Michael Sarasti as Director of Innovation and Information Technology, and Ms. Stephanie Severino as Deputy Director of the Office of Communications.

Michael Sarasti will now lead Information Technology in addition to continuing the work he has been doing for the past two years of driving innovation, modern technology practices, process improvement, collaboration and customer service. Mr. Sarasti has more than a decade of government experience evaluating government processes, analyzing performance metrics, understanding user needs and improving the usability of resident services. Most recently he has led efforts to transform digital services, release open data, and build process improvement throughout the City of Miami. He has a master’s degree in Interactive Media and New Communications Technologies from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University.
Stephanie Severino joins the City of Miami Wednesday, May 15, from Miami-Dade County where she served as Assistant Director of the Office of Communications for Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. In that role, she assisted with the oversight of the communications efforts for the County’s 25 departments. Ms. Severino joined Mayor Gimenez’s team as Press Secretary in 2014. Previously, she was a weather anchor and news reporter for Univision Networks from 2009 to 2014. She has a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Latin American Studies from the University of Miami.
