Please note the following changes to January activities at The Ogden Nature Center:

Watercolor Bird and Nest Studies with Utah artist, Terry Johnson
Saturdays, January 17, 24 and 31 from 10:00 am – 12 noon
$60 Ogden Nature Center members
$75 nonmembers 
Join us on Saturday mornings in January to paint feathery friends and their nests. Watercolor artist Terry Johnson will demonstrate and teach techniques for capturing the colors, gestures and beauty in birds and nests.  Bring a basic watercolor palette and your brushes.  Quality paper will be provided. Please RSVP by Tuesday, January 6 to 801-621-7595.  Class size is limited to 12.

Bird Menagerie 
Meet us at the Weber County Library, Huntsville Branch, 131 S. 7400 E., Huntsville
Thursday, January 15 at 7 pm
Learn what makes a bird a bird. We will have examples of eggs, nests, feathers, and taxidermy specimens and investigate adaptations specific to raptors, shore birds, songbirds and more. 

Scout Saturdays
Saturday, January 17 
9am – Native vs. Invasive
10am – Conservation
11am – Venomous Reptiles and Poisonous Plants
$5 per scout/ per class
The Ogden Nature Center provides the perfect outdoor classroom for scout activities. Have a teacher/naturalist help your scout pass off badge requirements during these 45 minute mini classes. Reservations and a non-refundable deposit (50%) is required. CANCELLED: Kundalini Yoga for Winter– 8 week session
Mondays, January 19 through March 9 from 6:30 – 7:45 pm
$45 members / $50 nonmembers
Ages: Adults
This Kundalini Yoga class is ideal for beginner/intermediate and for those who want to experience Kundalini yoga and meditation.  Bring your own yoga mat and blanket.  Wear loose, comfortable clothing and we recommend not eating for at least one hour before class.  Taught by a certified instructor.  Please pre-register by calling 801-621-7595.

Wild Wednesdays: Fantastic Falcons

Free for ONC members
$3 children / $4 seniors / $5 adults
All ages welcome
What can dive at over 200 miles per hour?  What has a beak that acts like a can opener?  Falcons!  Learn what separates falcons from other types of birds.  Then take a short hike with a naturalist to look for signs of falcons at the Ogden Nature Center.  Please meet in the Visitor Center.

Bird Watching 101 
Meet us at the Weber County Library, Pleasant Valley Branch
Thursday, January 22 at 6:30 pm
Come learn about bird watching, bird identification, and places to go birding. We’ll introduce you to a basic bird guide and how to use one.  Meet a live owl or hawk!

Family Snow Day 
Saturday, January 24 from 10am to 1pm
$5 members / $8 non-members
All ages welcome
It’s time for a family snow day! Come enjoy all things snowy. Borrow snowshoes to trek around the trails on a photo scavenger hunt, make and take a snow related craft, go sledding, try your hand at snow art and warm up inside with some hot cocoa.  Pre-registration required.  Please call 801-621-7595 by 4 pm on January 23 to reserve your spot.

Wild Wednesdays: Snarl, Growl, Howl: Foxes and Their Bigger Cousins

Free for ONC members

Join an Ogden Nature Center teacher/naturalist as you investigate the secret lives of the canids (dog family). Learn about foxes, coyotes and wolves through stories, pelts, skulls and tracks. Please meet in the Visitor Center. 

Preschool Discovery Days: Walkers, Trotters, Creepers, Crawlers
Choose a date and time: 
Thursday, January 29 or Friday January 30
9:30 am, 11 am or 1 pm
$5 members / $6 non-members
$5 per child for preschool groups over 5
For ages 3-5 and their accompanying adult
Explore the world of creatures that crawl – on many legs, four legs or no legs at all! Find footprints and patterns on the ground, share songs, stories, games and a craft all about moving through nature. Dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will only be accepted when space is available. Classes may be canceled due to low attendance. Please call 801-621-7595 for more information or to register.
