Certain parts of Trinity Trail detoured through May 9

Mayfest is coming May 3-6, and to prepare for the big springtime celebration, certain parts of Trinity Park will be closed to the public April 16-May 9.

During the closures, which are necessary for Mayfest setup and tear-down, the Trinity Park loop trail provides a lighted detour connecting the north and south ends of the closure. The loop trail ensures that trail users can continue to enjoy the trails while this portion of the park is closed.

The loop trail detour will be clearly marked. The Forest Park Train, duck pond and Fort Worth Bike Share stations will continue to be accessible.

Mayfest has returned more than $7.4 million to the Fort Worth community in support of city parks, Trinity River recreational development and community projects over the event’s 46-year history.

In 2017, Mayfest granted funds to:

  • Construct a permanent portable toilet enclosure in Trinity Park, upgrade a sound system in the park and implement an archiving system.
  • Prepare for construction of the Phyllis J. Tilley Memorial Bridge Plaza.
  • Underwrite the Junior League of Fort Worth’s Kids in the Kitchen program in area schools to promote healthy lifestyle choices, a Pancake Breakfast with Cook Children’s Hospital and the Junior League’s All Aboard training program.
