Providence, Utah was officially settled on 20 April 1859. Since that time, Providence has grown to more than 7,000 residents. To bring the community together, Providence initiated the Celebrate Providence festival held every June at the Zollinger Park.
After threatening storms in the morning throughout Cache Valley, there were a few small rain sprinkles, but by afternoon when the events were gaining full steam, the skies cleared and the day turned out to be superb.
The Celebrate Providence festival provides some great activities for everyone in the family starting with a 5k Fun Run at 8:00 a.m. and ending with a movie in the park at around 9:00 p.m.
During the day, people enjoyed a Motorcycle Poker Run, Kids Bike Race, games, food (homemade rootbeer, Navajo Tacos, etc.) and about 25 other booths set up by local vendors. During the day there were slides, climbing walls other carnival games for kids and adults to have fun trying their luck. Adding to the fun in the evening was a Concert in the Park featuring Lovell Studios and Lilium Entertainment.
At 4:00 p.m. the Providence Wolverines were in action on the baseball diamond with a crowd of about 100 people watching the game.
Overall, the people who attended the Celebrate Providence festival had a great time. Even though attendance was down a little from the previous year, there was still a crowd of 600-700 people who visited the park to Celebrate Providence.
