Egret/Heron Nesting Deterrent Patrol
Egret and heron nesting season is now underway. Through mid-May, Animal Services will be patrolling some residential areas of the community to deter egrets and herons from nesting. The City thanks residents in advance for their patience, as many of the tools used (screamers, bangers, and propane cannons) create loud noises and can be disturbing. The City encourages residents to join the prevention effort by trimming tree canopies to allow light to shine between limbs and other trees, removing old nesting material, and hanging visual deterrents such as owls, scare-eye balloons, or reflective tape if necessary. Report heron and egret activity to Animal Services immediately by calling 972-466-3420. For more information, visit cityofcarrollton.com/animalservices.
