Carrollton Public Library To Host Retirement Planning Strategies Program

Carrollton, Texas – The Carrollton Public Library will host a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) with Edward Jones® financial services on Thursday, July 12 at Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Lane) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, July 17 at Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs) from 1-2 p.m. The Retirement: Making Your Money Last presentation will teach attendees how to assess current finances, define goals for retirement, look at expenses and inflation, and work toward developing a strategy for those golden years.

According to a 2016 report on retirement readiness, from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the prospect of a comfortable retirement remains an elusive goal for many Americans. The report refers to a Gallup survey which states, “Americans continue to be most worried about not having enough money for retirement, with 64 percent saying they are ‘very worried’ or ‘moderately worried.’” Another Gallup survey concluded that “many working Americans simply can’t afford to retire.”

“The Carrollton Public Library is very excited to offer this program on retirement strategies,” said Kelly Moore, Information Services Librarian at Josey Ranch Lake Library. “This is a great opportunity to explore what investment options are available and gain insight into how to handle unexpected expenses.”

Whether retirement is near or 10 years down the road, focused retirement planning can help build a strategy for the future that is tailored around the financial constraints of the present. Learn how to translate a vision of retirement into an achievable goal.

The presentation will focus on some key questions to evaluate current financial status and to define the rule of 25, the power of three, and the cost of waiting before beginning to invest for retirement. Those considering retirement or hoping to retire soon are encouraged to attend.

“The City is continually seeking to offer new programs that help residents plan for their futures and learn new skills,” said Rachel Young, Josey Ranch Lake Library Branch Manager. “This topic, in particular, is a favorite because it’s so useful at any stage.”
