The City of Burlington is proud to celebrate National Community Development Week April 17 – 21. With HUD’s Community Development Block Grant, last year over 5,000 low and moderate income people benefitted with decent housing, economic opportunities and a suitable living environment. CDBG funds local projects to serve our local residents. Created in 1974, CDBG is building strong communities for 43 years!
The attached press release outlines the events for this week and the proclamation tells more about the impact critical and at-risk federal funds have had in our City.
The attached photo shows Mayor Weinberger, with Nancy Owens(Housing Vermont), Brenda Torpy (Champlain Housing Trust) and residents of the new Bright Street Co-operative as they received the 2017 Audrey Nelson Award for an excellent Community Development Project from our kick-off event.
