Michael Curry, Esq., has been a notable staple in the Black community of Boston for decades. He grew up in the Lenox Street Housing Development and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications and Journalism from Macalester College in 1991. Following his graduation, he came to Boston to work as the Senior Policy Analyst of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts in 1992. There, he provided analysis on legislative and regulatory matters for nearly 16 years.
He received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from New England School of Law in 2005. In 2008, he joined the Massachusetts League of Health Centers, which has oversees 50 community health centers and more than 988,000 patients across the state. In 2011, Michael Curry became the president of the Boston branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Peoples (NAACP). As president, two of his major initiatives included reviving Boston NAACP, which is the nation’s first chartered branch, and focusing on recruiting and developing the next generation of civil rights leaders to the Boston NAACP. He served as the president of the Boston NAACP from 2011 to 2016.
In 2014, Michael was elected to the National NAACP Board of Directors, and was recently re-appointed to the National NAACP’s Executive Committee, and appointed to Chair the National Board’s Advocacy and Policy Committee and Vice-Chair the Political Action and Legislation Committee. He currently serves on the Chair of the board’s Advocacy and Policy Committee and Vice-Chair of Political Action and Legislation Committee.
He has been serving as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Government Affairs and Public Policy of the newly formed Government Affairs and Public Policy Division at the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers. Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers represents 49 health centers, serving more than 800,000 patients. In 2019, Michael became the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the organization.
