SPRINGFIELD, Mo., September 27, 2018 — The Bank of Bolivar Catfight Giving Challenge enters its fifth and final year this fall as Drury and Southwest Baptist universities again turn their basketball rivalry into a friendly fundraising competition.

For this finale contest, Drury and SBU have set a total goal to exceed $500,000 raised between the two schools during the Challenge’s five-year run. The schools have raised a combined total of just more than $350,000 during the first four years.

Starting today, donations made to either schools’ scholarship funds will count toward the Catfight Giving Challenge. The Challenge kicks into high gear in late October, as both schools make a final push toward the finish line. The competition ends on Tuesday, Nov. 13 as the Panthers and Bearcats face each other on the basketball court at Drury’s O’Reilly Family Event Center. The women’s game tips off at 5:45 p.m. that night, and the men’s game begins at 7:45 p.m. The Giving Challenge will run through the end of halftime of the men’s game, when the winner will be declared.

Donations to the Catfight Giving Challenge will support Drury student scholarships and financial aid as part of the Annual Drury Experience Fund. The ADEF allows alumni, businesses, and friends to invest in and empower students, maximizing the value of a Drury education. Gifts to the Fund will directly impact deserving students by increasing available financial aid, supporting engaged learning experiences and internship opportunities, and providing stipends for hands-on research, classroom travel and business partnerships.

Donations may be made by mail to: Office of University Advancement, 900 North Benton Avenue, Springfield, MO 65802; by phone at (417) 873-7320; in person; or by visiting www.drury.edu/give. Alumni, friends and students of the university are encouraged to make a donation, participate in the excitement via social media, and challenge other alumni, friends and students to donate.

Drury and SBU will take their longstanding Highway 13 rivalry series in-conference starting next year, when SBU joins Drury as a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
