A couple of days ago, one of our Area-Info.net contributors, Chris Tew, shared an article with me about AuthorRank. In brief, AuthorRank is a ??????new?????? product that Google is giving more credence in its searches. Just as Youtube videos have a higher value in Google searches than other video sources, Google is looking for ways to increase their loyalty on Google+ and provide benefits to people who are members of the service. This idea and programming was first patented in 2005, but has not really taken effect. However, that is set to change.
Google+ is also looking for ways to link to relevant information. In their mind, if you are an author and post regularly, you have more relevance than others. In the past PageRank has been a fair estimate of the relevance of a site, but Google administrators feel that the AuthorRank is more valuable and will have a higher value when compared to strictly the PageRank of a site.
Google is taking advantage of Google+ and everything else it might be doing to bring people under its roof. After reading the articles about AuthorRank, I decided to check it out and get set up, after all, I have written, or contributed, somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 articles to Area-Info.net and other sites. I thought it would be a benefit to be viewed as a resource through the Google searches.
Does this work? It appears that it does. I set it up on a Saturday evening and on Sunday morning I was showing up in the top searches on Google as a contributor.
The steps are pretty easy to follow to set up your AuthorRank for Area-Info.net.
- Create a Google+ profile if you haven’t previously.
- On your Google+ profile, add the website(s) where you contribute articles. In this case, it would be area-info.net. Set this to public.
- Include your email in your profile (this does not need to be public).
- Include the code (in the graphic above) in your short ??????bio?????? on Area-Info.net. Use the link for your Google+ profile and change the ??????Google?????? to your name.
You can see how I did my bio at the bottom of this article.
How to set up your ??????authorship.?????? https://plus.google.com/authorship
Once you set up this link in your bio, it will be attached to every article you contribute to Area-Info.net. This includes the articles submitted in the past and the articles in the future.
I am sharing this idea because it can be a great way that Area-Info.net can help you achieve your goals of recognition and our goal of helping you get your voice heard.
