ARRESTED: Suspect Apprehended for Seventh District Armed Robbery


NEW ORLEANS – NOPD officers have arrested Wayne Thornton (DOB: 06/08/1977) in connection with a Seventh District armed robbery incident.

The victim told police that on November 6, 2018, she was approached by the pictured subject at the intersection of Hammond Street and Flake Avenue. The subject allegedly produced a firearm and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the subject fled the scene on a bicycle.

Seventh District officers observed the subject while canvassing the area. The suspect fled from the officers, resulting in a brief pursuit where officers formed a perimeter. The subject was then located by the canine unit in the 6700 block of Tara Lane. Thornton was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where he was booked accordingly.
