Annual MLK Back to School Festival Event scheduled for Friday, August 25, 2017

Dallas Public Information OfficeWhat: Parents and students are invited to the MLK Back to School Festival on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center. Free school supplies, uniforms, haircuts, and hairstyles will be made available to parents with school-aged children. Medical screenings and immunizations will also be available through the Foremost Family Health Center. Local vendors will also be present to provide information on education, health, and social services. There will also be live entertainment, free snacks, and more. Parents must provide a valid ID and children must be present to receive supplies and uniforms. No registration is required to attend.

The goal of the Back to School Festival is to serve Dallas-area students with the essential items needed for a successful academic school year.

This event is free and open to the public. All media outlets are invited.

When: Friday, August 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Where: The Martin Luther King Recreation Center, located at 2901 Pennsylvania Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75215

Who: The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center Board and Staff host this annual event. This year’s sponsors include the City of Dallas, Dallas Parks and Recreation, Miles of Freedom, Capital One, Carter’s House, Niagara Water, and Reliant Energy.
