Alvarado Transportation Center to Undergo ART-Related Construction

Stops for Rapid Rides and Rt. #66 Moving a Few Feet to Accommodate Construction

ABQride in Albuquerque New MexicoAlbuquerque, NM – For the next six weeks, passengers will be catching the eastbound #766 and #777 Rapid Rides and eastbound #66-Central in slightly different locations at the Alvarado Transportation Center. Construction on a bus platform for the Albuquerque Rapid Transit project at the Alvarado Transportation Center will entail temporarily moving these stops.

Starting Aug. 21, 2017, barricades will be placed around the fountain area in front of the Alvarado. Passengers will be diverted through the arcade to either go north to the new Rapid Ride stops or to go through the breezeway to the bus island.

The new stop for the eastbound Rapid Rides will be located closer to the southeast corner of 1st Street and Central. For the eastbound #66-Central, the new stop will located just south of the bus entrance at the Alvarado Transportation Center.

The westbound stops for the #66 and #766 and #777 Rapid Rides on Central are also being temporarily affected by construction. The stops will move about 50 feet further west on Central than their previous, temporary locations.

The construction and stop relocations at the Alvarado Transportation Center are scheduled to last until the end of Sept., 2017.

ABQ RIDE is Albuquerque‘s principal form of public transportation.  It logs a daily average of 160-Thousand Passenger Miles on its buses.
